Director’s inefficiency gives another flop to Sivaji

These days, mere love stories are not really getting gelled well with the audiences with more and more young and tender faces facing the camera. The film makers are trying to make a mix of love with action backdrop. Debutant director Nagendra Kumar made an attempt to experiment one such film with Sivaji as hero. In order to attract the youth and mass audiences, he brought a Mumbai girl Kaveri Jha, who had no qualms to expose to the possible extent and give a romantic feel in her combination scenes with the hero. She is not too glamorous and at the same time, her exposure went unnoticed because of the immaturity of the director in utilising her in a proper manner.

16 daysA movie with complete Tamil scent

Generally films in Tamil language will have such continuous chases, hero running in streets to escape from villains and the hero in a deglamorous roles. Despite all this, the producers and director of the film, who planned to cash in on the glamour and image of heroine Charmme, started giving a lot of hype to the film by claiming that Charmme did a fantastic role in the film, by mimicking famous people and all that giving a wrong picture to the audiences that it is also a lady-oriented film like 'Mantra'. But, the fact is that Charmme has very little role in the film and the entire story moves around the hero, who is also a novice.

dronaNithin may not be in a position to smile

Nayanatara created ripples in the film industry by sporting a bikini sometime ago and this had prompted many others to tread the path to resort to cleavage show to woo the youth and mass audiences. Now it is the turn of Priyamani, who had so far sported the image of a family girl. By wearing revealing dress, she gave a hint to the producers that she was ready to play glam doll roles too in her future projects. Moreover, Nithin, who had no notable hits to his credit in the recent past, banked heavily on the heroine, for bagging a hit talk.

satyamevaA true copy of Bollywood hit 'Khakhi'

Though Dr Rajasekhar claims that he had provided story, screenplay for 'Satyameva Jayate' it is nothing but the translated version of Bollywood hit 'Khakhi'. Knowing fully well that the people would accept him in a angry young man's role in general, or a tough cop's role in particular, Dr Rajasekhar made attempts to save his nagging image with this movie. His expectations were proved right and the film came out as an above average grosser with mass audiences gathering well for the first day first show. The film is almost like his home food, with his daughter being the producers, the story and screenplay by himself and the director being his wife Jeevitha.

siddhamA film on cops sans a gripping story

JD Chakravarthy, who entered the films as a small time villain, later turned a hero and won the hearts of Telugu audiences. With no notable hits to his credit, he was off the screen for some time and joined as an associate to his mentor and got training in direction department. He had also directed a couple of films but none of them ran well. However, his recent film 'Homam' remained an average grosser and avoided flop talk. Inspired by the Bollywood film 'Ab Tak Chappan' and Jagapatibabu's inclination to play a super cop, the director chose to bring out another police story on the screen. However, it is claimed that Ramgopal Varma had penned a story with the real life incidents that occurred in the life of two senior IAS officers Dayanayak and Sitaramanjaneyulu and the same was moulded on the celluloid.

kikk

A hat-trick combination of Prakash Raj and Siddhartha

These days, parents are realising that they should behave like friends with children. Many films are coming with this concept. After a big hit like 'Bommarillu' where Sidhartha played loverboy role and Prakash Raj playing a caring father, Kishore Kumar penned a good story. At a time when the present generation directors are going for action, faction and college backdrop stories, this story which was penned with the director's individual idea was proved a big hit giving a hint that a thought that comes from a brilliant mind would definitely attract the audiences. Moreover, the perfection in portraying the family sentiments on the screen would touch the hearts of audiences like the film 'KIKK'.

Presence of top artistes proved waste

Mixing of driving and drinking is dangerous. This is a traffic rule. Likewise the director's bid to bringing out a love story with action, mafia and inter-religion marriage in the backdrop may not gel well in the absence of a tight screenplay and meaningful love story. It is like a tightrope walk for a debutant director too. Ignoring this theory, Sai Bhanu tried to portray a love story with these elements and miserably failed to impress the audiences. At the same time, the running of the film faced a rough weather in the absence of a popular hero.

srisailamHuge star cast, poor narration

Reeling a bundle of fights and keeping a bunch of songs at will, keeping huge star cast are just not enough to make a film. Despite the presence of stalwarts like Krishnamraju and Nagababu, star comedians like Brahmanandam and Venumadhav, the latest flick directed by KS Nageswara Rao failed to enthuse the audiences. Keeping in view the recent terror attacks in Mumbai and the earlier bomb blasts in Hyderabad in view, the director prepared a story where the hero fights terrorism. Though his intention was great and clear, director Nageswara Rao has lost a clear vision and plan to present it on the screen. His did no sincere effort to present subject on the screen. Even the star image of Srihari could not save the film, as the action scenes too were quite cinematic and clearly showed that it is nothing but cinematic.

shhVain bid to direct a suspense thriller

With the success of films like 'Mantra, Anasuya and other such horror and thriller films, several other producers and directors tried to toe their line and made attempts to bring out films on the same theme and trend. Haricharana Prasad, who had earlier produced an award-winning film at national level like 'Kamli', had made an attempt this time to wield the megaphone as well to direct the film. They chose a novel scripted by noted English writer Richard Martin, which has horror/thriller in its backdrop as an inspiration in penning the story. However, the film is neither a horror nor a thriller but has a little suspense, which is easily predictable.

Mr GireesamNo takers for a message-oriented movie

Making a film with a view to give a message is really a daring act. Producers who come forward to make such films need compliments as they could not expect commercial benefits from such films. Though the intention is good, it is like swimming against the current and the director needs a lot of commitment in preparing a very good script with perfect screenplay. It was once again proved that it needs a lot of homework and maturity for the director in making one such film. Viswa Prasad tried his best but his immaturity resulted in the poor running of the story.

Masth Review

An avoidable film

In Hindi, the word 'Masth' means sumptuous or more than adequate. Director SV Krishna Reddy, a popular name in family subjects and good comedy entertainers, completely spoiled his image by bringing out a mock entertainer. It neither entertained the audiences or had a clear message on a specific subject. Many of the scenes are absurd and have no logic. It is quite unbelievable to say that the film was directed by a seasoned director like SVK. Moreover, it is surprising how a corporate firm like Zee Motion Pictures accepted the subject which has no substance and looks like a combination of some comedy skits sans logic.
