maskaRam appears very energetic in 'Maska'

Ram was introduced to the Telugu film industry as hero by YVS Coudary. He showed excellent ease in all the departments like, dance, fights and comedy timing in 'Devadasu'. However, his next film was proved a dud. After breaking the second film jinx, he regained his glory with the success of 'Ready'. With the same success spirit, he gave an energetic performance all through the film of MS Raju, with a commitment to give a big commercial hit to the producer, who was almost in losses. The entire unit worked like war horses and the novel combination proved that their expectations were correct and it came out as a complete commercial and mass entertainer.

Krish (Ram) always wants to earn easy money. He wants to earn one lakh rupees per month and become a millionaire overnight. Following his friend's (Sunil) advice, Ram wants to settle in the US by marrying a girl who gets a big job there and enjoy the life. So, Krish traps Manju (Sheela), daughter of Jagannatham (Mukhesh Rushi), who was an MP. Learning that Manju wants to love a boy who was already in love, Krish creates a fictitious character. When Manju was about to propose to Krish, Meena (Hansika) comes alive. Now the triangular love game begins. Though Krish wants to trap Manju first, he falls flat with the innocence of Meenu. Once, Krish saves Meenu from a factionist gang who planned to kidnap her. After a few days of friendship, Meenu completely loses her heart to Krish and thinks of proposing him. At this juncture, Meenu comes to know that Krish is a big fraud and learns that she was cheated. Not only she hates him but also reveals the truth to Manju. Instead of hating Krish, Manju further wants his love. So she invites Krish to save her from an unwanted marriage alliance proposed by her father. After a few turn of events, the flashback reveals that Meenu and Manju are step sisters. Jagannatham and another MP Shinde (Pradeep Rawat) are vying for a ministerial berth. Shinde wants to prove that Jagannatham married twice and wants to disqualify him on charges of bigamy. Who will win the game? Did any of the MPs succeed in killing Meenu? Did Krish marry Meenu, whom he loved most or Manju who loved Krish? Which of the MPs get the ministerial berth? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

PERFORMANCE:

Ram gave an energetic performance in the movie. He showed excellent ease in dances and was all powerful in action scenes. He perfectly maintained the comedy timing as well. He once again proved that he is good in dances and fights. The way the director moulded Ram's character is a highlight. Among the heroines, Hansika was cute and bubbly while sizzled with her glamour in a couple of songs. In fact, Sheela is improving her performance capabilities from one film to the other. After a long time, Sunil got a chance to have a lengthy role, and the director chose him for the right character. Among the character artistes, Naresh is okay as a hen-pecked husband, while Jhansi is good as a woman who could show authority on her husband. Mukesh Rushi and Pradeep Rawat are also did justice to their respective roles. Brahmanandam, however, was wasted as the director failed to give him adequate representation in the movie.

maskaTECHNICAL:

The director brought out the film with the sole aim of making it as a commercial entertainer. The film had the scent of B. Gopal in the second half, as he was well known for bringing out action and faction dramas. The director chose to use the track to run the triangle love between the hero and two heroines on the lines of 'Vaali' featuring Surya with Simran and Jyothika. Another highlight of the film is the music and also the choreography of songs. Editing part is also okay with very few scenes which are a little lengthy and boring. Action scenes by Ram-Lakshman are okay and enjoyable to the youth. MS Raju changed the music director this time and selected Koti instead of his regular Devisri Prasad. Koti too did not let him down and gave tunes to suit choreography. It has a lot of scope for steps and Ram utilized the opportunity well while the heroines too shook their legs with equal ease.

Analysis:

As a whole the film had all elements that could attract the B, C centres' audiences. Watch the film for entertainment sake and not look for logic. But for the logical part, the film is okay for normal view. Producer MS Raju somehow regained his past glory. Smile would definitely return on Honey's face this time with the young sensation Ram's energetic performance.
