Kamal Hassan completed his 50 years in acting today (Aug 12th 2009). He started acting at the age of 6. Kamal’s first picture “Kalathoor Kannamma” as child artiste was released on 12th Aug 1959. He received a national award for that movie though Kamal Hassan became popular in the 70's. After that Kamal Hassan received 3 national awards and 18 filmfare awards. Along with other awards Kamal Hassan won 3 Nandi Awards. Kamal Hassan is one the few artists who is popular all over India. Fans are planning to organize a big function to celebrate this on the 30th of this month. Rajinikanth may attend this function.
